Jace loves to sit in his chair in his room and read. Well, we really did not want to buy another glider for the baby room (what do you do with one glider, let alone two later on), so we wanted to move it back downstairs when the baby was born. But then what would we do for Jace. So we searched and amazingly even at Walmart we would pay a couple hundred for a chair, so when we found a smaller recliner at Lazy-Boy we thought that would work, and because of a sale it was not that much more. Well nothing is ever easy. When I went back to the store to buy it, I wanted the unprotected one because they wanted to charge $70 for the protectant and I thought Scotchguard would suffice. Oh and then they did not even have that model in all of Houston even treated, except for the floor model which had a tear in it. So not only was I looking at having to pay more for the treatment but also a more expensive model. Luckily the salesman had quoted and wrote down prices two weeks before, so I was at least able to convince them to not charge me for the more expensive model. Jace likes his new chair. Item one done.
The second item was booking a place for Jace's birthday. Last year we had it at the house- mostly adults, but some kids who had to be entertained inside because a birthday in August does not work well with being outside unless you have a pool, and we don't. So after last year I decided we were going somewhere. Jace does not turn 2 until August 18th, but considering if I did not do this now I would be trying to do it with a newborn, I decided now was better than later. So we debated a jump place (Jace still seems scared of them), Chik-Fil-A (no party room) or a paint place (will he get it?)- I was trying to keep it in Pearland. We had gone to a friend's birthday party last year at a Gymboree and Jace loved it and it was before he could walk, so I was pleasantly surprised they had one only about 15 miles away in Missouri City. So I walked in, told them when I wanted it, paid my deposit and was done. Gotta love it.
The most important part of the weekend was Father's Day. Steve is pretty low key on his wants (well most of the time- don't get me started about his car obsession), so we kept it easy. He wanted catfish so we went to Sudie's for lunch, and his gift consisted of various Mississippi State garb, including some stuff for the kids. I was going to go big and get him a new grill since he seems to dislike the one he has now, but he decided to stick it out one more year. And then in the afternoon we went to the pool. Jace probably goes between the big pool and the splash pad 10 times in an hour but he likes it a lot.
Not nearly enough thanks to someone who does so much and is so good to his son- we love you Steve! (even Kayla- she forgot to sign the card).
